On October 13, 1973, the Federal Council of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists approved a clinical memorandum on homosexuality In support of a previously approved position statement that “the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists strongly condemns community attitudes and laws which discriminate against homosexual behaviour between consenting adults in private”. This paper reviews the material on which the clinical memorandum was based.
