This paper describes an analytical method for determining terrestrial γ-radiation through conversion of the pulse-height distribution obtained with NaI(T1) scintillator into a true incident photon spectrum by means of a response matrix method. The resulting true spectrum also serves as bisis for estimating the exposure rate from the same radiation. The value of exposure rate estimated by this method is compared with that measured with an ionization chamber, revealing good agreement between the results.
