Incorporation of Three Phenylacetylene Molecules into an RhMo2S4 Trinuclear Sulfido Cluster Core, Forming Bridging Metallathiacyclobutene and Dithiolene Moieties

The trinuclear sulfido cluster [{Rh(PPh 3 ) 2 }(μ 3 -S)(μ 2 -S) 3 {Mo(S 2 CNEt 2 )} 2 (μ 2 -Cl)] ( 2a ) reacted readily with three PhC⋮CH molecules to afford [{Rh(SCPh CH)Cl(PPh 3 )}{Mo(SCPh CH)(S 2 CNEt 2 )}{Mo(S 2 C 2 HPh)(S 2 CNEt 2 )}], the structure of which, as well as that of the PMePh 2 analogue of 2a, have been determined by X-ray analyses.
