Summary The total glycoalkaloid (TGA) content of tubers of ten potato cultivars exposed to the light for 42 h significantly increased (P < 0·001). on average, above that of tubers kept in the dark. There were significant differences in the percentage changes in TGA content (P < 0·05) and in the intensity of tuber greening after exposure (P < 0·05) between cultivars although there was no correlation between the two characters.
