The radical polymerization of 4-phenyl-1-buten-3-yne (1) was carried out to obtain a polymer having acetylene moieties in the side chain. The polymer prepared at 60 °C was consisted of specific 1,2-polymerized unit. The Q-e value of 1 was estimated form the copolymerization with methyl methacrylate to demonstrate a fully delocalized character of the propagating radical.
