Styrene has been polymerized at 30°C with the catalyst system titanium tetrachloride‐lithium isoamyl. The rate constant and the activation energy have been determined. The molecular weight as well as the crystallinity decrease with trans ‐stilbene present. This effect was further studied in polymerization experiments with the ZIEGLER catalyst titanium tetrachloride aluminum triethyl.
