The synthesis and X-ray structure of the first exclusively N-based tetrameric complex [RAl] 4 ( 1; R = 2,6- i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 N(SiMe 3 )) are reported. 1 was prepared by the reduction of [RAlI 2 ] 2 ( 2 ) with Na/K alloy.
