An instrument has been constructed in which efficient multiaxis demagnetization of separate samples or long cores is achieved by passing the specimen in a twisting manner through a rotating magnetic field so that the axes of twist and rotation of the field are orthogonal. The rotating field is created by driving three coils, whose axes are 120° apart, from the three phase electricity mains supply.
