Previous studies from Vanderbilt Medical School The present study was planned to investigate the concentration of other important electrolytes under the same conditions and in normal hearts, i.e., hearts from persons killed in accidents. However, when the pathologic reports were analysed it was found necessary to divide the material into three groups-(1) Normal hearts; (2) an intermediate group of hearts from fatal accidents which show pathologic evidence of cardiac disease; and (3) hearts from persons dying with congestive heart failure.
