A study was undertaken to determine the effect of high ambient temperature (35 C) before storage on broiler breeder hatching eggs. Parameters studied were hatchability, hatch time, and subsequent performance of chicks hatched from these eggs. Results show no significant differences in hatchability due to treatment. Chicks that hatched from eggs exposed to 35 C for 6 and 12 hr had the lowest placement weights since they hatched earlier and were without food and water the longest before placement. Although significant differences in weight loss occurred prior to the placement of chicks, there were no significant differences in either body weights at 4 and 7 weeks of age or in percent mortality during the growing period due to treatment.
