Diamond films with three different granular structures were investigated for the employment as cathode materials in microplasma devices. The hybrid granular structured diamond films having sp 2 -bonded carbons hidden in the boundaries between diamond grains exhibited not only excellent plasma illumination behavior but also with long lifetime.
