The instabilities which can occur when a layer of a binary mixture with fast chemical reaction in a porous medium is heated from below or from above are investigated. We find that both a stationary instability or an oscillatory instability can occur as the first bifurcation depending on the sign and the magnitude of the heat of reaction.
