Abstract —Neuronal and oligodendroglial cell fractions isolated from trypsinized brain contain trypsin. Neuronal cell bodies contained approximately 5 μg of trypsin/mg of cell protein; oligodendroglial cells had approx 1 μg of enzyme activity. Studies with fluorescein‐conjugated trypsin suggested that least a portion of the fluorescent enzyme was internalized in neurons.
