A study of the effect of various non–solvents, plasticizing compounds and salts on the properties of man–made fibres was carried out on acrylic, viscose and acetate fibres. The addition of non–solvents to the spin–solution of acrylic copolymers decreases the viscosity and permits an increase in the concentration of the spinning solution giving improved fibre properties. The addition of non–solvents to viscose and acetate fibres produces similar results, the most effective being with viscose fibres. The addition of plasticizing compounds improves the sorption properties of fibres and decreases their electrical resistance. The treatment of gels of acrylic fibres with salts improves their dyeing properties and decreases the accumulation of static electricity.
