As a possible origin of noise in a reproducing head in a video tape recorder, a pulsed stress due to friction between a head and a tape is pointed out. From the consideration of internal physical processes of a ferrite material under the pulsed stress, the spectrum of the noise is predicted. The noise experimentally observed is well interpreted by the model.
