Correlation analysis assesses utility pricing relationships with infrastructure network parameters in regional populations, indicating the physical drivers behind public utility fees.
Water and sewerage charge rates are considered to be a public service to the population. The price rate setting should be adequate for the purchasing power of the population of the country. In a previous article [2], the authors focused on the comparison of the development of water and sewerage charge rates in the Czech Republic in relation to the development of selected macroeconomic indicators. Macroeconomic indicators were selected both as representatives of individual factors reflecting the performance of individual regions of the Czech Republic and the purchasing power of the population in a given region. The conclusions of the paper found no direct dependence of the water and sewerage charge rates on the performance of a given region. The authors have focused on technical parameters related to the water and sewerage charge rates. These technical parameters include the length of the water supply and sewerage networks and the share of the population of each region connected to the water supply and sewerage networks. The aim of the paper is to determine the correlation coefficient, based on which it would be possible to describe the type of dependence between the water and sewerage charge rates and the above-mentioned technical parameters.
