Experimental study demonstrates cellular fidelity and disease modeling using human olfactory epithelial organoids, highlighting molecular pathways driven by inflammation and viral infection.
In this project, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology was utilized to analyze the similarity between the constructed human olfactory epithelial organoids and native human olfactory epithelial tissues at the single-cell level. Furthermore, based on the established human olfactory epithelial organoid platform, a type 2 inflammation model and a SARS-CoV-2 infection model were developed. Through transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq), key pathogenic genes and signaling pathways in the human olfactory epithelium following inflammatory exposure and SARS-CoV-2 infection were analyzed.
