The solution for a general form of the transfer equation is given. The total intensity is found to oscillate under general conditions, although the oscillations vanish under most special cases discussed previously in the literature. The oscillations are a manifestation of the Faraday effects and their interaction with polarized absorption. Subject headings: plasmas - polarization - radiative transfer - radio sources
