Bibliographic review reveals foundational scholarship on postcolonial English writing across South, Southeast, and East Asia, highlighting key resources for regional literary studies.
The list of research publications presented here is a select bibliography of contemporary Asian literatures in English, providing details of research articles, books, book chapters, author interviews and doctoral dissertations published between 2010 and 2025. Its focus is on critical material on English‐language writing from all Asian postcolonial or ‘outer circle’ countries – or English in its ‘second diaspora’ – over the past fifteen years, including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in South Asia; Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore in Southeast Asia; and Hong Kong in East Asia. It aims to bring together major critical works published internationally and in the core postcolonial and Asian anglophone literary journals, highlighting influential and foundational texts. It is intended to complement the research articles published in this special issue of World Englishes and to serve as a guide to current and future research in the field.
