Novel trinuclear metal complexes of formula (MeM){CH 2 [C(CH 3 )NNC(S)(NR)] 2 }(MMe 2 ) 2 (M = Al, R = Me ( 1 ); M = Ga, R = Me ( 2 ); M = Al, R = Et ( 3 ): M = Ga, R = Et ( 4 ); M = Al, R = Ph ( 5 ); M = Ga, R = Ph ( 6 )) result when the ligands 2,4-bis(4- N -alkylthiosemicarbazono)pentane are mixed with trimethylaluminum and -gallium reagents and were characterized by 1 H, 13 C, and 27 Al NMR, mass spectra, and elemental analyses. The structure of the compound 1 has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structural data reveal that compound 1 is a trinuclear aluminum compound with coordination numbers of 4 and 5.
