With epoxy resins as embedding media, more richness in detail in electron micrographs can be gained than with methacrylate. For the embedding of surface-cultured cells, however, the use of Epon has been impractical because it cannot be readily separated, after hardening, from the glass surfaces on which cells are usually cultured.
