A plasma gun similar in geometry to the washer plasma gun has been operated with gas injected externally. Hydrogen, nitrogen and argon plasmas have been ionised and accelerated to velocities of the order of 10 7 mm s -1 and densities 10 11 mm -3 . Higher parameter range is possible with higher electrical input power.
