Two new homoscorpionate ligands, hydrotris[3-(1-naphthyl)pyrazol-1-yl]borate (= TpαNt) and hydrotris[3-(2-naphthyl)pyrazol-1-yl]borate (= TpβNt) were synthesized and converted to several types of derivatives, three of which, Co[TpαNt][Tp], Co[TpβNt][Tp], and Co[TpαNt][Tp*] were structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. In all of them, the ligands were κ3, but Co[TpαNt][Tp*] had no elements of symmetry in the crystal or in solution. Also synthesized were the complexes Mo[TpαNt](CO)2-η3-methallyl, Mo[TpβNt](CO)2-η3-methallyl, and those of the type M[TpαNt]X and M[TpβNt]X.
