The treatment, by conventional diffusion methods, of exciton transport from the host crystal to impurities is proved to be valid only in the limit of strong exciton–phonon interaction. I n the present work a possible solution to the problem of crystal–impurity exciton transport is presented in the opposite limit. The assumption of rapid exciton transport within the crystal is used to explain the capture mechanism. Other assumptions are used to bring the final result to a form similar to Forster's for the electronic energy transfer between two molecules.
