Formulæ are developed for a geometric factor to allow for variations of dosage-rate at points in tissue both inside and outside a sphere containing a uniformly-distributed radioactive material. Values of this factor are tabulated. The results are applied to find the order of variations of dosage-rate that are to be expected with a spotty distribution of I131 in a thyroid gland.
