The resonant states in the continuum above a multi-quantum well structure produce strong variations in the transmission coefficient as a function of injected electron energy. A device design which exploits these resonant effects is proposed. The Resonant Hot Electron Transfer Amplifier (RHETA) is a three-terminal device in which the transfer of hot electrons across the base is modulated by shifting the injected electron energy relative to the resonant states.
