No σ-π interaction takes place between the Si skeleton and CC triple bond in cyclosilanylethynes such as cyclo-Si6Me11-CC-cyclo-Si6Me11 and 1. This follows from the NMR and IR spectroscopic data, as well as from the CC bond length (121.2pm) and CCSi angle (177°) in the case of the former. The compounds were prepared from cyclosilanyl (di)halides, acetylene and Na/K alloy.
