A percolation model for conducting polymers is proposed in terms of a random resistor network. The macroscopic conductivity at the critical polymer density is studied. Substantial deviations have been detected from the standard conducting behavior in percolating structures generated with a large difference between inter- and intrachain conductance elements. This behavior could be explained in terms of a distinctive finite-size effect and the relevance of the results discussed in context with real polymer systems. {} 1996 The American Physical Society.
