Radiative plasma power exhaust from the core, mantle, and SOL/divertor regions has been evaluated for ITER, with emphasis upon establishment of a radiative mantle by impurity seeding in the SOL. The simulations investigated different seeded impurities, compatibility with the H‐mode, and sensitivity to different impurity pinch velocities. An analytic stability analysis of the radiative mantle is also presented.
