Recent measurements of the neutron-capture cross sections of Pb206 and Pb207 make possible a calculation of the amount by which the abundances of these two isotopes had been enriched by uranium decay at the time of the formation of the solar system. The primordial abundances of uranium and thorium are computed from the cosmochronology of Fowler and Hoyle. It is found that the present abundance ratio in unfractionated material would be U/Pb = 0.0191 ± 0.0017.
