A 3/4 litre outbakeable ionization chamber for the measurement of Townsend's ionization coefficients up to a gap distance of 1.5 cm is described. Use has been made of improved techniques and particular attention has been paid to the simplicity of mounting of the instrument, the convenience in dismantling prior to a bake and the accuracy in setting the electrode gap distance.
