Slip systems of anthracene single crystals are determined by means of slip lines analysis. Either a [010] (001) slip system or a [110] (001) slip system is dominantly operative, depending on the tensile direction of the crystals. In specimens with the same Schmid factor with respect to [010] and [110] direction, the plastic deformation takes place by only a [010] (001) system because of the lower elastic energy of a [010] dislocation. The elastic energy of dislocations is calculated taking the elastic anisotropy of anthracene crystals into account.
