The largest isolated fullerene cage is found in a stable Dy2@C100 dimetallofullerene (probable structures are shown with Dy atoms omitted). In addition, a Dy3@C98 trimetallofullerene and two Dy2@C94 isomers were produced in high yields and separated by single-step HPLC. The new higher multimetallofullerenes are all classified as small band-gap fullerenes.
