Investigations are made of the absorption spectra — d‐d transitions — of a series of A3CrCl6 double salts, where A = Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs. Using Tanabe and Sugano's energy matrices for d3 configuration in Oh point group an assignment of the bands is made. An influence of the next alkali cation on the Racah parameter B is observed and qualitatively explained by introducing a new parameter μ depending on both the charge and the radius of cations.
