Born's approximation is used to calculate the cross sections for the processes He(2s 3 S) + Ne(2p 6 1 S) → He(2p or 3p 3 P) + Ne(2p 6 1 S) and He(2s 3 S) + H(1s) → He(2p or 3p 3 P) + H(1s or 2 ). In addition, the total cross sections at high energies for the 2s 3 S - 2p or 3p 3 P excitations of He atoms by Ne and H atoms are obtained.
