The structure due to the autoionization effect during the ionization of Ba + by electron impact is discussed. Calculations of the full ionization cross section, including the normal ionization and the ionization via excitation and autoionization are presented and are found to be in good qualitative and quantitative agreement with the experimental data of Peart and Dolder. These results are discussed at some length.
