A local-pseudopotential model is used to calculate the heat-capacity Debye temperature, the phonon Gr\"uneisen parameters and lattice thermal-expansion coefficient, and the elastic constants and their pressure derivatives. The only serious discrepancy between theory and experiment is in the long-wavelength-phonon velocities. This discrepancy is most likely associated with the neglect of higher-order pseudopotential terms in the long-wavelength dynamical matrix.
