A rectangular-waveguide (WR-650) resonant cavity, operating in five TE ion modes (n = 3,5, 7, 9, and I I) at frequencies between I and 2 GHz, was used for pecan permittivity measurements. Nearly spherical pecans with an ellipsoid axes dimension ratio of 1.07 to 1.22 were measured Their permittivities were calculated using accurate expressions for a sphere and applying a shape correction procedure to provide pecan permittivity values for various moisture contents at 23 and 40°C.
