Renal artery patency was documented after 18 hours of thrombolytic therapy and secondary hypertension was ameliorated. Selective, intra-arterial fibrinolytic therapy may obviate the need for surgical embolectomy in poor risk patients in whom operative mortality rates appear unacceptably high. © 1981 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByGasparini M, Hofmann R and Stoller M (2018) Renal Artery Embolism: Clinical Features and Therapeutic OptionsJournal of Urology, VOL. 147, NO. 3 Part 1, (567-572), Online publication date: 1-Mar-1992.Skinner R, Hefty T, Long T, Rosch J and Forsyth M (2018) Recovery of Function in a Solitary Kidney After Intra-Terial Thrombolytic TherapyJournal of Urology, VOL. 141, NO. 1, (108-110), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1989.Pineo G, Thorndyke W and Steed B (2018) Spontaneous Renal Artery Thrombosis: Successful Lysis with StreptokinaseJournal of Urology, VOL. 138, NO. 5, (1223-1225), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1987.Mitchell W and Venable D (2018) Segmental Renal Artery Infarction: A Case Report With Computerized Tomography Scan and Angiographic CorrelationJournal of Urology, VOL. 137, NO. 1, (93-94), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1987.
