The linear polarisation of fluorescence radiation gamma 1 "(4416 AA) and gamma 2 "(3536 AA) following the photoionisation in the 4d 5/2 and 4d 3/2 subshells of Cd has been measured in the energy range from threshold up to about 40 eV. The experimental values are found to agree best with theoretical results obtained by an RRPA calculation.
