Listeria monocytogenes frequently causes bacteremia and meningitis in patients with T-cell defects, most commonly immunosuppressed cancer patients (1). Although listeria infections would be anticipated in patients with this syndrome, there have been no reports of such infections to date. We have followed 2 patients with listeria bacteremia in a group of 226 patients with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome seen at this center as of March 1984.The two patients presented with high temperatures and constitutional symptoms. Blood cultures showed L. monocytogenes. Neither...References1. ARMSTRONG D. Listeria monocytogenes. In: MANDELL GL, DOUGLAS RG, BENNETT JE, eds. Principles and Practice of Infectious Diseases.
