Gametophytes of Botrychium dissectum forma obliquum were grown in sterile culture on a medium containing inorganic nutrients and sucrose. The gametophytes developed into thick, flattened prothalli which bore both sex organs The morphology of the prothalli in culture was essentially that described for gametophytes of B dissectum and B obliquum from nature However, the Botrychium gametophytes in culture developed without the endophytic fungus which is required for the growth of ophioglossaceous prothalli in nature
