are the same size. Several interpretations of this can be made. Sclerorhynchus may not produce successive sets of teeth of varying size as does Pristiophorus despite similarities in rostral tooth development. The rate of accidental rostral tooth loss and replacement may have been greater in Sclerorhynchus than it is in Pristiophorus. Sclerorhynchus may have shed smaller rostral teeth whether or not they were accidentally damaged.
