An automatic compensated torque balance for the measurement of magnetic anisotropy in the broad temperature range from the helium temperature upwards

An automatic compensated torque balance for the measurement of magnetic anisotropies from helium temperatures upwards in the range of torques 10-10 4 erg was constructed. The temperature dependence K 1 was measured on the ferrite Cu 0·09 Mn 0·61 Fe 2·3 O 4 and the energy splitting E t similar, equals 1540 cm −1 of the triplet d of the ion Fe 2+ caused by the trigonal component of the spinel crystal field was determined.
