The heat capacity of two polycrystalline specimens and of one pseudo single crystal of alpha uranium have been measured between 2K and 70K. An anomaly of uncertain origin appears in all the samples at 43K. If it is tentatively ascribed to a magnetically ordered state the mean magnetic moment per atom is about 6*10 -2 mu B . Only the pseudo single crystal shows additional, apparently first order, effects at 22K and 37K.
