In spite of the toxic properties of ethylene chloro- hydrin, * there is only one paper, so far as we know, which deals at all adequately with this compound. This is by Koelsch (1927) who refers to nine cases of which two were fatal ; he also gives results of animal experiments. The circumstances in which these cases occurred are probably unlikely to be repeatedthree cases (one fatal) during the use of the com- pound as a machine cleanser, and four others (one fatal) during its use as a solvent in a quick drying stain for oil-cloth.
