Synthesis, photophysics and electrochemistry of novel luminescent trinuclear heterometallic materials. Crystal structure of [Pt II (dppy) 2 (PhCC) 2 {cu I (MeCN) 2 } 2 ][PF 6 ] 2 (dppy = 2-diphenylphosphinopyridine)

Treatment of [Pt(dppy)2(PhCC)2](dppy = 2-diphenylphosphinopyridine) with 2 equivalents of [Cu(MeCN)4]+ or [Ag(MeCN)4]+ in dichloromethane afforded the trinuclear heterometallics, [PtII(dppy)2(PhCC)2{CuI(MeCN)2}2]2+ or [PtII(dppy)2(PhCC)2{Ag1(MeCN)}2]2+, in high yield; their photophysics and electrochemistry have been studied and the crystal structure of [PtII(dppy)2(PhCC)2-{CuI(MeCN)2}2][PF6]2 determined.
