Muon pair production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions with capture of the negative muon into the K shell of the target atom is studied in first-order perturbation theory by using the semiclassical approximation. Impact-parameter-dependent probabilities and cross sections are calculated for the K-shell capture in U 92+ -U 92+ collisions at E lab =10 GeV amu -1 . Nuclear size corrections are taken into account.
