The equilibrium between epimeric lithio-indenides 1, epi-1 and 2, epi-2, respectively, is investigated by means of trapping experiments, NMR line shape analysis and semiempirical calculations. The resulting data allows the determination of the influence of symmetry and structure of the diamine ligands (−)-sparteine and C2-symmetric (−)-α-isosparteine on the properties of the lithiated indenides.
