A device for liquid‐solid extraction fractionation of hydrolyzed dextran, precipitated on Celite as carrier, is described. The results are compared with the usual fractional precipitation methods and the former appears to be superior. The time to obtain a whole distribution curve was shortened from 10–14 days to 30 hours. The continuous liquid gradient of the new device can be varied at will. The flow of the solvent through the column, the temperature and the volume of the column can be varied within wide limits.
